Bio

Kirsten Michelle Schnittker (b. 1987) has created original works for audiences New York City at AUNTS, Brooklyn Arts Exchange, Triskelion Arts, Danspace Project's DraftWork series, Movement Research at the Judson Church, and Center for Performance Research, and in Zùrich, Switzerland at Galerie Alex Schlesinger; and has received support through an Emergency Grant from the Foundation for Contemporary Art as well as various artist residencies and space grants from AUNTS, BAX’s Upstart Artist program, Dance New Amsterdam, RoofTop Dance, and Mana Contemporary. Kirsten Michelle created Pie and Performance in 2017 a seasonal dance happening with pies at her home in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.

Recent work includes Yanira Castro/a canary torsi’s Last Audience (premiering at New York Live Arts on October 16, 2019), stevie may’s Softboarding: Medium Shred (2019), Mark Guiliana’s music video for GIRL, Hadley Smith's 1000 Moves For Back Up Dancers (2019) and TANOGRAM (2018), Michael Portnoy’s Relational Stalinism—The Musical (2018), Diana Crum’s Ghost Tongue Ruler(2018) and Blue Studies (2017), Yanira Castro/a canary torsi’s Court/Garden (2016-17) and NANCY (2013-15), and Yvonne Rainer’s Trio A with flags directed by Pat Catterson (April 2017). Kirsten has also had the pleasure of working with Renée Archibald, Ilona Bito, Carte Blanche Performance, Christine & Luke Hegel-Cantarella, Annette Herwander, Andrew Schneider, Tara Aisha Willis, Kelley Donovon, and the A.O. Movement Collective.

Kirsten is training to be a Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner at the Feldenkrais Institute of New York and will graduate in 2021.
